DESCRIPTION The notions of the three basic subjects of legal, legislative and judicial history will be discussed and compared withing the local context under the Order of St John, and British rule as well as under post-independence Malta. The relevant mechanisms will be entered into.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to describe the aim, extent and level of enforcement of legislation, juristic and customary development of Malta.

2. Skills

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to write about and discuss the values, rights and obligations which emanate rom the diverse laws and their sources and the contribution made by them to the development of Maltese institutions from the arrival of the Order of St John in 1530 to date.
